PGiP - Warszachy
A fusion of chess and Warsaw architecture. The buildings we’ve chosen are not just aesthetically pleasing constructions, and chess is more than a casual game. As we explore the relationships between chess pieces on the board, we also uncover them in the city. Learning their stories helps us understand the blend of chance and strategy that forms the Warsaw game. The roles of these buildings carry meaning beyond their façades.
Each piece is designed, cast, and polished in a single studio by one person. We use a concrete mix made with Polish aggregate, valuing trusted and familiar materials. That’s why the felt used for our boards also comes from Poland. The printing is done using screen printing — still by hand and with the help of a second person — ensuring quality and craftsmanship. Our choice of materials, just like our choice of medium and buildings, is intentional.

Warszachy was created by the three of us. We’re a family, each with different interests that help us create together. Jakub is responsible for sculpture and concrete. Weronika handles photography and graphic design. Julianna takes care of the words and organizing our ideas. Everything else we do together — a young married couple and their sister, trying to bring shape to their ideas.
